
Dr Teo Wan Lin is a board-certified dermatologist, entrepreneur and founder of 7-figure beauty brand Dr.TWL Dermaceuticals. As a thought leader in the Asian beauty sphere, her podcast Dermatologist Talks: Science of Beauty has collaborated with industry giants like Amore-Pacific, L’Oréal Paris and LVMH, amongst others. As a beauty KOL, Dr Teo is known for her scientific partnerships with Dior Beauty.
Formerly at the helm of a prominent cosmetic dermatology practice, Dr Teo is currently chief scientific officer of a leading Asian beauty cosmeceutical skincare line with manufacturing headquarters in Seoul. Widely regarded as an industry insider in the world of Korean medical aesthetics and skincare, she’s been interviewed by international media outlets such as Business Insider, L’Officiel and Byrdie for her expertise. She’s also a leading instructor on Udemy, the world’s largest online learning platform where her courses for medical aestheticians have reached bestseller status in the skincare/beauty niche.
As a beauty KOL, Dr Teo was the key dermatologist involved in Dior’s Digital Skincare Talks hosted by Philip Picardi and Gisele Bündchen in 2020. An expert on Asian beauty, Teo’s high profile involvement as friend of the House of Dior and the sole regional panelist in the Capture Totale Serum campaign saw her being featured on various international media such as Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar Germany, Elle Netherlands and Vogue France.
She also has a presence in Japan—where she has collaborated with the nation’s top beauty magazine Be-Story (Kobunsha Corp.). A model turned dermatologist, Dr Teo is a well-known personality in Asia with various media appearances. Formerly a national athlete on the women’s epee team, Teo was also the face of the 2019 #InCharge campaign for Diane von Fürstenberg in Singapore, a series featuring women of power shared on the brand’s global account.
On the research front, Dr Teo is the author of multiple peer-reviewed papers on acne and the skin microbiome published in leading journals such as the top ranked Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology which also gained coverage on beauty podcasts like Fat Mascara. Her work The “Maskne” Microbiome—Pathophysiology & Therapeutics was awarded the Top Cited Article 2021-2022 by publisher Wiley. She’s also a reviewer for the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology & Venereology. Her innovations in personalised cosmetics and biofunctional textiles have been featured in Cosmetics Design Asia as well as publications like Harper’s Bazaar and Elle Singapore.
Her current research includes that in the field of the brain-skin-axis, which explores themes of holistic wellness in the age of cosmetic dermatology and the incorporation of Eastern heritage in self-care and well-aging. “Shibumi—Acerbic Beauty of the Aged Face”, an exploration of the aging face through the lens of the Eastern aesthetic philosophy of Shibumi was published in the Journal of Medical Ethics (British Medical Journal), the leading journal in the field in July 2024.
“The Aging Face is a Fractal—It’s Pi π, not Phi φ” is a followup work published in 2025 in the International Journal of Dermatology and Venereology (Lippincott Journals/Wolters-Kluwer), the official journal for the Hospital for Skin Diseases (Institute of Dermatology), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Chinese Medical Association. Her 2021 commentary “On Thoughts, Emotions, Facial Expressions and Aging”, published in the International Journal of Dermatology (Wiley/Blackwell) is a position paper highlighting the intersection of philosophy, psychology and biology in the perception of aging faces.
